Welcome to the Sparcade homepage. As regular visitors know, the Sparcade page enjoys a permanent 'under construction' status and only gets updated once in a blue moon.

What is Sparcade?

Sparcade is a multi-game arcade emulator with support for games based around the 6502, 6809, Z80, 8086 or 68000 processors. Unlike many other emulators, Sparcade's core is 100% assembly language, providing true arcade speed and smoothness even on low-specced machines.

What's new:

  • 22/12/99(pm) - Sparcade v2.33b BETA released. You wait over a year and then 2 releases come along at once! This release fixes a minor problem which prevented the audio from working correctly in Gradius 3. I had no way of knowing about this bug until Sparcade was 'out in the wild'.
  • 22/12/99(am) - Sparcade v2.33 BETA released. Having found myself with little time to work on Sparcade, I have decided to release the current version 'as is'.
  • 15/5/99 - Replaced Sparcade binary. For some unknown reason, the previous binary disappeared. Many apologies to anyone who downloaded a zero byte file.
  • 16/4/99 - Added a new Sparcade logo. Many thanks to Jason Brashill for coming up with the goods! Be sure to check out my "links" page to see some of Jason's other work.
  • 3/4/99 - Restructured page layout
  • 28/3/99 - Moved to Freeserve + added a few odds and ends to the docs section
  • 13/8/98 - Sparcade v2.25 released
  • 16/7/98 - Sparcade v2.24 released
