VideoQ. Is it possible to take a screen snapshots using Sparcade? A. No. I have no plans to add this feature to any future release. Q. Sparcade is running very slowly on my machine - what can I do? A. First try setting the 'refresh rate' option to 'slow'. If this doesn't work, increase the 'frame skip' setting until Sparcade runs at a reasonable speed. Q. Some of Sparcade's games are running too slowly, even though my machine should be fast enough. A. By default, Sparcade sets up screen refresh rates which are compatible with standard VGA monitors. If you own an SVGA monitor (or better), switch the 'monitor' setting to SVGA in the options menu. It's also a good idea to calibrate your card as this will allow Sparcade to assess the capabilities of your hardware. A2. Under Windows 95 or 98, make sure that no other programs are running the background which could interfere with Sparcade's operation. Q. On some games, the right-hand side of the display is chopped off. A1. Try using the 'calibrate video card' facility in the options menu. A2. Some cards don't support the standard VGA features required for my high resolution modes. The Miro Media 3d (S3 Virge chipset) is a known offender, though in this case it appears to be a problem with the BIOS rather than the S3 chipset. A3. If all else fails, change the "hires method" setting to "chunky". Q. Modifying video settings for a game caused the screen to disappear and now I can't see the video options menu! A. Pressing the TAB key whilst using the in-game menus will switch Sparcade into a 'safe' video mode, allowing you to correct the settings which caused a problem. Please let me know if this happens to you! Q. What does the 'detail' option do in Nemesis? A. Switching to low detail mode causes a number of graphics features to be removed, reducing the system requirements for the emulation. |
